Couch into your arm, not your hands. COVER YOUR COUGH!

Step 1:  Wash Hands

Wash hands frequently with soap and running water. Rub hands together for at least 20 seconds.

Step 2:  Cover Coughs and Sneezes

Cover coughs and sneezes with the crook of your arm.

Step 3:  Stay Home If You Are Sick

Stay home when you are sick.  Do not go to work or school or anywhere else where you will spread your illness to others.  Keep children home from school if they have any flu-like symptoms or fever.

Step 4:  Get your Flu Shots

You need TWO (2) different flu shots to be protected this season!  Supplies are limited, so act early and monitor this site for updates on clinics and vaccine availability.
            • Get your SEASONAL flu shot now.
            • Effective December 28, 2009, H1N1 vaccination restrictions have been lifted in Marin. Get your H1N1 flu shot now.

              Step 5: Stay Informed!

Additional Steps to Fight the Flu:

                  • Practice good health habits: eat nutritious food, drink water, exercise, and get plenty of sleep.
                  • Use alcohol-based hand sanitizers if soap and water are not available. Rub for 20 seconds until hands are dry.
                  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
                  • Discard tissues after use and wash your hands after coughing or sneezing.
                  • Sanitize common surfaces like doorknobs, keyboards, faucets, telephones and shopping cart handles.
                  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Open windows for fresh air.
