REMINDER! Kids Need a Second Dose
Parents are reminded that young children, age 9 and under, who received the H1N1 vaccine need a second dose. (You must wait at least 21 days after the first injection.) Parents should contact their medical provider or call the hotline for more information.
Flu Activity Continues—Prevention is Critical!
We still have more flu activity than in other years, and a new “wave” of flu is possible this season. Wash your hands, cover your coughs & sneezes, stay home when you’re sick and get vaccinated.

Marin County Department of Public Health will provide several additional free H1N1 vaccination clinics in May and June—drop-in only—at the Marin Health and Wellness Campus, 3260 Kerner Blvd., San Rafael, CA 94901.
As of December 28, 2009, H1N1 vaccine restrictions have been lifted in Marin. Vaccination clinics are now open to everyone. No seasonal flu vaccine will be available at these H1N1 clinics.

Status of H1N1 Flu
According to the CDC, influenza-like illnesses have continued to rise across the nation, and flu-related hospitalizations are higher than normal, with the highest rates reported among children ages 0 to 4 years.
To date in Marin County, four laboratory-confirmed H1N1 influenza deaths have been confirmed; a fifth death was due to Influenza A (with an unknown subtype). All five deaths were adults with underlying medical conditions.

It’s not too late to plan to get vaccinated against H1N1 flu as well as seasonal flu, as vaccine becomes available. Please contact your healthcare provider to schedule an H1N1 and Seasonal flu vaccination.
